Stuff about us.....

My partner Marlow & I share our home with five dogs (5 goldies & 1 pekingese) & thirteen fish.  Although we are still in the honeymoon period of this crazy world of dog sport we have caught the bug & have found something we enjoy doing together as a couple.  Marlow is the chaffeur & navigator while I do all the bits & pieces involved in getting the dogs ready for the show & taking care of the all the mundane stuff like feeding & cleaning etc you know the "unglamourous side" of it all.  As newcomers we have had some success and some wonderful highlights.

I grew up in a family mad on Greyhound racing - we had some nice wins and those wins were at country tracks and not big wins at the city tracks.  Whilst the Greyhounds hold a special place in my heart I have loved other breeds namely the Labrador; Staffordshire Bull Terrier; St Bernards and the Fox Terriers my grandmother bred.  Since leaving home (22yrs ago) I have had all sorts of breeds both pedigree & the good ole mongrel cross - German Shephards; Rottweilers; Miniature Poodles and of course the cross breeds of which there are too many to mention -  the important thing is I have never lived without a dog & I don't think I ever could.  I have also bred & shown Cockatiels. Marlow also hails from family whom have a genuine love of dogs & birds.

Why Goldies -  I wanted a bred from my Grandmothers homeland - Scotland. 

Why showing - because it was something I always wanted to do as a child but never got around to & a near death experience made me create a "bucket list" & at the tender age of 39 I deciced to pursue dog sport. 

We have been lucky enough to have owned several Goldies.  However, we now only have the five at home and four of those we show on a regular basis. As they say Goldies are like chocolates you can't stop at just one. Whist  Candy, Bear, Panda, Dallas and Alexis are with us permanently Finlay (Goldbrior Evening Shaow has been gifted to Shishad Kennels in QLD) , Laddy (is with friends in Orange), Maggie (Montego Vanilla Suede now known as Maddie is back with Rose Easton of Montego Kennels) , Zealand (Montego Kiwi Ruler (IID) is living with friends in South Australia) & Star (Montego Starlight (IID) is back with Rose Easton Montego Kennels) are with us in spirit!!!! 

We have recently ventured into the Pekingese world  & have become completely captivated by this breed from China. We have managed to achieve alot with our girl THE DIVA  in a short period of time and we are confident her future is extremely bright.  In the short time we have owned her she has taken us on a roller coaster ride of non stop winning.  THE DIVA is of course from the world renowned kennel FRAWAI owned by Mrs Frances Wickens.  We thank Frances for allowing us to own THE DIVA and for mentoring us in the Pekingese breed.

We are extremely discriminative when it comes to the breeding of our dogs; as we should be.  All of our dogs hold the required medical certification for health issues associated with the Golden Retriever Breed.  We did not enter the world of dog sport to "turn a buck" !!!!! Hence, our actions are deliberate and not entered into lightly.
